Parents can often be referred to as a ‘safe harbour’ for their children, the place from which they set sail to go explore the world. Children experience love, care and affection in this safe harbour and this will create the foundation for their healthy development. During the first 1.5 years, children will gradually learn to “set sail” and they will develop the desire to explore the world around them further.
The natural urge for children to determine their own development will continue to grow. They want to open up their world on their own, but also in a group of peers.
At the age of 1.5 – 3 years, children want to become more independent, try different things, succeed at it, test different limits, boundaries and much more. In addition, they want to play, alone and together, make their first friendships and they want to build trustworthy relationships outside of the family.
Our nursery program at House of Knowledge meets the children’s needs and enhances their natural development. Our educational concept supports children to sail out to make diverse learning experiences. We respond to the needs of our children with a lot of empathy and experience and ensure an optimal start on their many educational journeys to come.
Our pedagogical concept is based on the Reggio Emilia learning philosophy. It attaches great importance to the close educational cooperation with our parents as main caregivers. Nevertheless, we understand that children are designers of their own learning and we support them in a project-based learning environment actively and with joy to understand the world and thus always tell their individual learning stories.
