Enriching After School Activities (ASA) serve as an extended educational opportunity for all our students at HoK.
House of Knowledge offers three terms of After School Activities throughout the school year.
Each term is made up of eight to ten weekly sessions
Classes are usually held from 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm

Club Football

Established over 15 years ago, Club Football coaches are qualified through the official Football Association. All students will learn the fundamentals of football, focusing on developing skills and encouraging a passion for football skills in a fun environment. They use the one ‘ball-per-student’ policy to ensure our students are engaged in active learning. The course includes: certificate, player profile and team picture on successful completion of the course. If you would like a Club Football uniform, please speak directly with the coach.
Fashion Design Club
Cajon Rhythm, 4-8 years

: Since the dawn of time, music has played an integral role in human development. Rhythm is the foundation of music and without rhythm playing a muscial instument becomes a challenge. The cajon is a such a cool instrument and is thought of as a drum kit in a box and ! It is also know as a rumba box in the Carribean but thought to of originated from Peru, it’s the rhythm of the word! This lessons for starters of the Cajon and week by week students will build up their knowledge, creativity and communication of various beats and rhymes.

: Fine art ABC is all about teaching children all aspects of fine art using the influences and techniques of famous artists from around the world. This creative and educational ASA will teach your child about a range of skills and methods in a fun environment.

Description: Drama involves role-play in a variety of situations. It helps children develop imagination, language and speaking skills, confidence, creative expression, cooperation and other social skills. In this club the teacher will use many ways to encourage the children to engage in dramatic play and the skills learned, such as self-discipline, responsibility, teamwork, setting goals, and concentration skills will be used throughout your child’s life.

Description:Chess is a recreational and competitive game played between two players. The analysis of chess is extremely complicated due to the many possible options at each move. By learning this game, children can enhance their ability to think logically and to cope with stress calmly.

: This class is packed with crazy experiments and creations for your little scientist! Discovering nature, solving problems, and awakening curiosities within the students are the aims of the Science Club. This class is full of fun, easy, safe and exciting hands-on science experiments as well as fun facts and Science topics that will help your children to answer a lot of questions. Each new creation will be an exciting opportunity for kids to learn about the wonderful world of science!

: Mini tennis is the perfect ASA for students wanting to focus on the fundamental skills of tennis. The class provides tennis instuction to help students develop gross motor skills and fine motor skills, cognitive thinking, and social skills. The class uses low compression balls to help students develop faster reflexes, better technique and consisent play. This ASA is indoor only and it is a way to teach good rally skills. All coaches have been trained to high internaiotnal standards and have experience teaching children tennis.

: Chinese Painting has a history of more than 2000 years. Whether in old China or now, this art form is the expression of a person’s inner world. We will study Chinese painting to learn basic skills and practice calm and harmony.

: Ballet lessons for children are a great way for energy burning while honing focus and attention skills. Ballet dance requires both sides of the brain being used and children can grow in artistry and creative way. Last but not the least; ballet is the root of all dances! Mastering ballet when they are young, and they can pick up any other dance easily in future.

: Parent-Child-Gymnastics will focus especially on the joy and fun of movement. The class will combine music and exercise in a familiar environment. At the beginning of the class the children enjoy common singing and dancing games in a group circle.
After that they will jointly experiment and play with everyday materials like balls, balloons, cloths etc. Finally, climbing and playing areas will be set up to promote motor skills, balance and the fun of gymnastics. Hereby the kids will learn and practice movements like jumping, crawling, climbing etc. The class will be ended in a circle with some nursery rhymes and finger-plays. The children are accompanied by mother and / or other caregiver and will thus experience all of the above with familiar people.

Ukulele for Beginners, 4-8 years

: The beginner Ukulele’s are the perfect size for children to start to learn a musical instrument. Students will begin to learn the seven standard cords and will learn basic strum pattens while learning the words to new songs in both english and Chinese such as “you are my sunshine” and “boa bei”. In order to give students the full attention with regards to learning the Ukulele, each lesson has a maximum of 4 students.
Kung-Fu Kids, 3.5-8 years

: Taught by a real Shaolin Temple Kung Fu Master Master, as seen on the UK’s BBC and the USA’s NBC TV channels. This active class focuses on teaching students, self-confidence, self-discipline and respect. Lesson’s start with a fun warm-up and stretches, students then step-by-step build up a lively routine of Kung-Fu movements and set-forms. Kung-Fu Uniform Fee 150 rmb (Optional.) If you would like to buy a uniform, please let us know at time of registering (Student height.cm). The money for the uniform will be collected directly from the Kung-Fu Teacher at the next lesson. If you do not wish to purchase a uniform then please make sure your child has comfortable loose clothing to change into for the lesson.
